On Sunday, January 15, 2017, writers and poets across the United States and in Europe came together for Writers Resist, a “re-inauguration” of our shared commitment to the spirit of compassion, equality, free speech, and the fundamental ideals of democracy. Writers Resist events, large and small, were held in dozens of locations throughout the US and the world. Inspired by long-time SOMOS member, past president, and activist/poet Phyllis Hotch, SOMOS continues its monthly WRITERS AND POETS RESIST event on the fourth Sunday of each month from 4-6 pm at the SOMOS Salon. Writers, poets, musicians, songwriters, are invited to read from and/or perform their work or the work of others, bringing the power of the creative community to protect and support of our democratic ideals. If you would like to present some creative work, please contact Bob Silver at firstname.lastname@example.org or call SOMOS @ 575-758-0081.
