Please note Friday and Saturday performances to accomodate for Super Bowl Sunday! TCMG celebrates Philip Glass’ 80th birthday (January 31) with his works as well as those of composers he studied or studied with. Small-scale compositions include Glass’ Opening for solo piano, Serenade for solo flute, Orbit for solo cello and dancer (Amber Vasquez), and the more substantial Violin Sonata. Mixed in is Nadia Boulanger’s (Glass’ teacher) Vers la vie Nouvelle, Mozart’s Piano Trio in C Major and Schubert’s Piano Trio in Bb, D. 28, reflecting Glass’s description of himself as a “classicist” instead of the “minimalist” moniker most often associated with him and the style he pioneered. David Felberg, violin | James Holland, cello | Nancy Laupheimer, flute | Debra Ayers, piano | Amber Vasquez, dancer
