Santa Muerte is a folk saint who takes the form of a female Grim Reaper and is closely associated with the Day of Dead. She is believed to be a powerful and generous spirit who intervenes daily in the lives of her followers, responding quickly and graciously to even the humblest of requests. A universal saint who welcomes everyone with open arms, she is considered a protector of those live on the fringes of society.
