Leslie Ullman is the author of five poetry collections, most recently The You That All Along Has Housed You: A Sequence, and of a hybrid collection of craft essays, poems and writing exercises titled Library of Small Happiness.Her honors include the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award, the Iowa Poetry Prize, and two NEA fellowships. Ullman is a former professor in the Creative Writing program at University of Texas-El Paso. She now teaches in the low- residency MFA program at Vermont College of the Fine Arts, does freelance manuscript consultations, and teaches skiing at Taos Ski Valley.
Previous Lives is Donald Levering’s 14th poetry book. His prior collection,Coltrane’s God, was Runner-up in the New England Book Festival contest. In 2018, he won the Carve poetry prize, judged by Carmen Jeménez Smith, and in 2017, Eavan Boland selected him winner of the Tor House Robinson Jeffers Award. Previous honors include a NEA fellowship and the Quest for Peace rhetoric award. He has volunteered with Earthwatch and Enkosini on species preservation projects. He lives in Santa Fe, where he volunteers as a US citizenship tutor and is married to the artist and poet Jane Shoenfeld.
