The 9th Annual New Mexico Dulcimer Festival is taking place October 19-20, 2018, in Albuquerque, NM. Event features 49 workshops focusing on mountain and hammered dulcimers, but also Celtic harp, bowed psaltery, penny whistle, autoharp, bodhran, spoons, ukulele, singalong and country line dancing offered by local musicians and nationally recognized artists from Colorado, Ohio, Mississippi, and Tennessee (see website for fees). Absolute beginner dulcimer workshops are offered with instrument rentals available, and loaner instruments provided for some of the other workshops. The festival includes jams, open mic, on-site lunches, on-site music/instrument vendors, and public concerts (7pm each night, $15 at the door, children 12 and under free). Concert performers will include 3 national dulcimer champions and a national finalist. Musicians have performed at countless festivals across the US, and across the globe. Festival sponsored by the New Mexico Dulcimer Association, Apple Mountain Music, the City of Albuquerque Urban Enhancement Trust Fund and the Music Guild of New Mexico.
