Alejandro Carrillo is a 4th generation rancher in the Chihuahuan desert where he receives about 9 inches of rain per year. With good management practices, he has tripled the number of animals he can run on the same acreage, no longer imports feed, and has developed a herd highly adapted to his harsh desert conditions, all while improving conservation practices and ecosystem services.
