Ballet Taos Present ‘The Snow Maiden’

This holiday season, Ballet Taos presents The Snow Maiden at the Taos Center for the Arts Community Auditorium for three performances only. Inspired by a beloved winter folktale, this enchanting contemporary ballet tells the story of the Snow Maiden, a magical girl born of snow and ice who longs to experience the warmth of human love. As she discovers the beauty and complexity of the human heart, her journey unfolds in a moving tale of love, wonder, and the changing seasons.

Set to the evocative music of composer Zoe Keating and choreographed by Ballet Taos Artistic Director Megan Yackovich, The Snow Maiden blends contemporary movement with the timeless magic of classical storytelling. Part of Ballet Taos’s repertoire of full-length classical and contemporary ballets presented over the past ten season, this captivating production invites audiences of all ages to experience the beauty, imagination, and emotional depth of dance. Ballet Taos is delighted to share this audience favorite with our community for a special holiday experience.

Ballet Taos is a nonprofit performing arts organization dedicated to bringing professional classical and contemporary dance to Taos and the surrounding communities of Northern New Mexico. Through our Academy (K–8), Pre-Professional Program, Summer Company, and community outreach initiative, Project Relevé, we provide a continuum of artistic education, performance opportunities, and community engagement. Each program builds upon and strengthens the others, fostering artistic growth, technical excellence, and a lasting appreciation for the performing arts.

At Ballet Taos, we believe dance is more than an art form—it is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation. Through dance education and performance, we strive to instill in our students a strong sense of purpose, a lifelong passion for learning, and a thoughtful, compassionate approach to life and community.
