21st Annual Taos Storytelling Festival - all online!
2020 marks the twenty-first anniversary of the Taos Storytelling Festival, sponsored by SOMOS. The festival kicks off on Friday night with a StorySLAM hosted by Jeff Cochran. This StorySLAM will feature a variety of outstanding storytellers vying for a chance to join the featured tellers on Saturday night. Our theme is Sacred Land, Water & Sky. Your time limit is 8 minutes. Who will win? Join us and find out. On Saturday afternoon, Gayle Ross leads a workshop on “Seeing Red – Looking Past the Stereotypes.” The workshop will offer an in-depth look at the issues surrounding cultural appropriation and exploitation in literature and storytelling, led by Gayle Ross, member of the Cherokee Nation from Oklahoma. On Saturday night, join us for The Taos Storytelling Festival’s big stage show at the Taos Community Auditorium. Our features include Gayle Ross, Pat McCabe, and Cisco Guevara along with the winner of the StorySLAM. This will be an evening of storytelling you’ll long remember.
