TAOS, N.M. — LUNAFEST®, the women’s short film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers and bringing women together in their communities will be hosted by HEART of Taos for the second consecutive year at the Taos Community Auditorium, 145 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, on March 8, International Women’s Day. Admission to the public is free. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the films start at 7 p.m.
This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama and cover topics such as women’s health, body image, relationships, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.
This year’s films include Yours Sincerely, Lois Weber; Girls Level Up; Waiting for Hassana; Last Summer, In the Garden; Fanny Pack; Joy Joy Nails; Toys; Buttercup; and Jesszilla.
The LUNAFEST® VIP Sponsors’ Pre-Screening Reception at 5:15 p.m. features a performance by Jennifer Peterson who offers a captivating performance with powerful vocals and contagious melodies with influences of Americana, blues, pop and country. Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served to sponsors and VIP tickets holders. Sponsors and VIPs also will have reserved seating to view the films.
