Poet and Writing Coach Lawrence Gregory will be reading from his 2017 book, "Stretching Silver Through Blue Haze," and new poems from his manuscript in progress.
BIO
After doing his graduate work in Plant Breeding & Genetics, Lawrence went on to run a commercial real estate investment and property management firm for more than two decades. He has been deeply involved in education, serving as the President of the Board of Trustees of a Waldorf School, as well as teaching High School & Middle School Spanish, English and American Literature in the public school realm. Lawrence has spent nearly his entire adult life living in the Rocky Mountains; he raised his family in the ranching and ski resort town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. An avid athlete and outdoor adventurer, Lawrence has, among other things, been a road bike racer, a long-time alpine & Telemark skier, and has climbed extensively throughout the Rockies and Cascades of North America, the Swiss Alps, and the Andes mountains of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. He spent over a decade breeding alpacas and doing humanitarian work with indigenous alpaca herders in remote villages on the Peruvian altiplano. His poetry has appeared in numerous literary reviews and poetry journals. Stretching Silver Through Blue Haze, his first book-length collection, is a collaboration with the award-winning photographer, Birgit Gutsche, a Canadian woman whom he is most fortunate to call his friend, his lover, his wife, and his muse. They currently live in Kimberley, BC, Canada.
